On behalf of the German Federal government, I would like to express my great happiness that we can contribute to UNICEF’s continuous efforts to help bettering the situation of children and youth in Turkmenistan. At the same time, I very much appreciate the awareness of the political leadership of Turkmenistan for creating the right adequate environment for minors in justice institutions of the country.

Today, by having this opening event of a child-friendly investigation room here in Turkmenabat, we are witnessing another remarkable step on that way to a modern, effective and accountable administration in Turkmenistan, and this is part of the state’s modernization strategy as a whole.

We need more of this for making a difference in judicial and law enforcement procedures for children and young people in Turkmenistan. They are the future of this country and deserve the best facilities for growing up with trust and confidence.
